Project Description
To kick off the new facility the New Ground class teamed up with the 3rd year Graduate Studio in Architecture taught by Professor Steve Turk. Students worked together to create modular structures and surfaces for the space that could be used in intermedia performances and research. The first 5 weeks of the quarter were spent in discussion and research resulting in a shared interest in the concept of a field array (multiple elements that can be reconfigured) and parametric fabrication techniques. The resulting structures are in use in the lab in courses and in performance.
